    Boys Say the Grossest Things

    Bedtime. Reading stories.
"I wish my tongue were long and skinny like my finger so I could stick it up my nose and eat something tasty."

I swear I am not making this up.

    May 14

One new bike. 4 new falls. 2 new bandages. 8 new scrapes.

Well. The title almost says it all.
Saturday we went to Toys Backward "R" Us and bought Ben a new bike. A two-wheeler. With training wheels. Ben was very insistent we get him a bike with training wheels. We tried on lots of bikes, rode them around the store (and into people), and finally settled on a bright blue bike with a 16" frame. (We tried the 14" which fit him better but it cost more and the seat only had a half inch of "growing room.")

We brought it home; Steve put it together, Ben rode off. Did really well too. Till he rode down the driveway.

Ben's used to his low-to-the-groung trike/big wheel. He pushes it to the top of our driveway, sits down, puts his feet on the pedals and rolls downhill. Fast. Manages to turn right at the bottom to avoid going into the street.

Well, he tried it with his bike. Panicked on going so fast, lifted his feet, turned, wiped out. Scraped up his arm, leg, knee.

    Wow.

    Did it again. And again.

Got to hand it to the kid. After some major snuggling and some TV time and some whining while we cleaned out the cuts and scrapes and some serious decision-making on the right color band-aid (circle R, TM), he got right back on the horse. Er, bike.

Some of those scrapes are on his bike, by the way.

Will post pictures tomorrow. Too lazy to get my camera off my desk and download the pictures.
